Woohoo!

This was a very exciting weekend at the Glad home. It started off Friday night, when Brian's mom called us and said a letter had come to their house from the College of Architecture at the U. So we raced over after work to open it. They had told us that we would find out in about June if he made it in, so I really wasn't expecting this letter for another week or so. But he finally opened the letter and just let out this huge sigh of relief. He read the letter and I started freaking out. I was jumping up and down and squealing, I was so happy. You'd think he just opened his mission call or something. So yeah. It was a big relief to know that he's in for sure. Over 200 people apply and only 50 get in, so I am very proud of him.

They already gave him his schedule, because the program is so strict, and it turns out that he'll be going to class MWF from 9-5 and TH from 12-5. And that's only two classes. And then that's not counting the hours he'll be spending in the studio working on the projects. So he's going to have to devote all of his time to this. It doesn't leave much time for a job either. But I figure that this is what he wants to do and it's getting him towards a real job that will support us, so I can support him now. And I just have to get through one more year and then I'll be working full time and it'll be ok. So we'll just struggle through this year on one income and then we'll be ok. At least that's what I'm thinking. Brian has talked about wanting to still work on Saturdays, but I know he'll be working in the studio every free second, just because he's such a hard worker on those projects, and I'll admit, I'm a little selfish. I want one day a week that we'll actually be able to go out and spend some time together. But he also feels guilty that I'll be the only one working. I can do it though, I'm tough. :)

On Saturday I got to go to Les Miserables with my brother Phil. My mom actually bought the tickets for him and Nat for Christmas, but she got married, and was having her open house, so I got to go. Lucky me. :) It was so awesome! We were on the sixth row center and let me tell you, I loved it! I've seen it once before at the capital theatre, when I was way up high in the balcony, so I couldn't really see anything because I'm blind. But I still liked it because I love the music. But this time was incredible. I could see the actor's faces and it was great. Phil said he could even see them spit. (What a guy. j/k.) But it was great. And it was awesome to just spend some time with Phil. Our relationship can be really rocky at times, because we're so close in age and can be so similar, but at times it's really close, because of those same factors. So it was nice to have such a fun time with him.
That night we went to Brian's aunt's house for an ice cream party with the family for his grandma's birthday. I love that we get to do so many family things. It's great that his family is as close as mine. It's exactly what I want for our kids.

Congratulations to Brian! That is so exciting. I know what you mean about the whole one income thing. I pretty much supported Jason for a year while he finished up school, and then for a couple months when he was looking for a job, but it is worth it in the end to have your husband doing what he loves. Good luck Brian.
