Last week we had a Stake Relief Society Enrichment activity. One of the mini classes was on Food Storage/Meal Planning/Freezer Meals. I really liked it and I loved the handouts because that helps me remember what they talk about.
I've been trying to work on Meal Planning and our Food Storage, but I was feeling a little overwhelmed. I didn't know what we needed or where to put any of it. But after this class I felt a lot better.
Another thing helping is that I have started using coupons. I am getting a little addicted. I have multiple blogs I look at each day just to find the good deals and then I spend a good couple hours trying to plan out what meals we should have, and then what coupons I could use and then what other things are on sale w/coupons that we could stock up on. It's already started to help.
Last week we went to the store and bought $90 worth of food for $50. Though expert coupon shoppers wouldn't be that impressed, I was really excited. Also, in that trip we got 5 boxes of instant oatmeal, FREE! Sweet!
So yes, I'm a little crazy. Deal with it.
So now I've started trying to work on our Food Storage, by cataloging what we've got and figuring out what meals we eat frequently and how much we need to stock up on for those meals. Needless to say, it's gotten a little overwhelming. I think it's because I want to stock up all at once and fill up our whole house in one trip. But I need to just get organized and then take a step back and chip away at our goals.

In looking through these coupon sites, I stumbled across this post. Going to Disney World for free!? Amazing!
This instantly made me decide that we are going to get a Disney Rewards Visa and start saving for our own trip in 5-6 years. I'm already excited. I know, I'm crazy. But I figure that's a good way to save and it keeps our trips far enough apart that Brian doesn't get sick of Disney. I don't think I ever could. :)
So that's what we've been up to lately. Me going crazy pouring over deals and coupons and Brian just trucking along with his school stuff. Such an exciting life we lead. So if anyone has any tips about coupon-ing or food storage, feel free to let me know.

Is there any way I can get a copy of the handout on freezer meals?
I don't know if you use it, but my sister-in-law told me about www.pinchingyourpennies.com for coupons...it's a pretty awesome site. It catalogs coupons from a bunch of different places and puts the ads of each store on line and tells you whether it is a 'stock up' deal or not.
I love pinchingyourpennies too!
i collect coupons all the time, too. i also check deals online all the time! those online sites are kind of addicting!
I'll add that site to my list of places to check. And Rui you're right, they're totally addicting! I spend way too much time trying to get the best deals.
