Gyoza is a Japanese dumpling. My parents both went to Japan on their missions, and when I was growing up we'd occasionally have a "Japanese dinner". Egg drop soup, ham fried rice, and Gyoza. My favorite!
Granted, I only make the frozen kind right now, because to make them by hand can take up to 4 hours. It's a long process stuffing all that goodness into the wrappers. But worth it.
Gyoza is delicious! Amazing! Wonderful!
And stinky.
The only time it smells really good is while you're eating it. It's not that it smells gross, it's just such a strong smell, that once you're done eating, you don't want to smell it anymore.
So last night after we finished, I wrapped up the leftovers and put them in the fridge so we could take them for lunch today. Then we blasted the fan because my visiting teachers were coming over. I couldn't smell it anymore but I'm sure they could.
Then this morning, as I was in the bathroom getting ready, Brian opened the fridge to get stuff out for lunch. That 1 minute of open fridge unleashed the gyoza smell which reached me all the way in the bathroom. (Again, our bathroom really isn't that far away from the fridge because our apartment is oh-so-spacious, but still!)
It made me laugh because it really does take over like something tangible, but it's not.
Owell, it's worth it for that goodness.
I just hope my co-workers don't mind too much when I pull it out for lunch. ;)
