Happy Halloween!

On the 23rd we attended the Bowen Halloween party. This is hosted by my cousin and her husband. It was so much fun to finally go. They've lived in St. George the past few years, so we've never been.

We had a yummy dinner, played fun games and did a lot of laughing.

On the 25th, we had a Pumpkin Carving night with our friends the Preece's, and Jose & Anna.

We had a really fun time just talking and teaching Jose & Anna about our Halloween traditions.

I also got to help Aria draw all over her pumpkin. She kept wanting to draw everyone there. I'm not an artist at all but she didn't seem to mind.

Here we are with our finished pumpkin. This also happens to be the first pumpkin we've carved together since we got married.

On the 29th, our ward had their annual Halloween party, complete with cornbread, a chili contest, and a costume contest.

We love our ward so much and had a great time with friends. It was awesome to see everyone's creativity.

This year we were "Glad Bags". Gotta get some use out of the name right?

Happy Halloween!

Better Late Than Never

This year for Halloween Brian and I were a contestant from Biggest Loser and Jillian. Brian came up with the idea, which is why I love him. I don't mind dressing up if I don't have to come up with the idea. And couple's costumes are so much harder than individual ones.

You can't see it very well but I drew the Biggest Loser logo that Brian is wearing. I was so proud of myself.

Happy Halloween!

Halloween

I'm such a slacker. I didn't take any pictures this year. But I guess that's OK, because we didn't really have time to come up with any great costumes. Next year I'll do better.

On the 25th, we attended the annual Walker Halloween party. There was good food as always, and fun games. We had the licorice contest, and cat races, the pumpkin weight guesses, and the "carving pumpkins" without looking contest, (which I won!). And last but not least, we had the Halloween story. It's a tangent story where everyone contributes a little section of the story with a prop they choose. My cousin Wendi always starts it and I always tie it up in the end. (That's what you get when the family knows you like to write creative stories.) It was fun as usual. And it was my Grandma Walker's birthday. Happy Birthday!!

On the 30th, we attended our Ward Halloween party. We went as Beauty & the Biker. I threw on an old dance dress, and wore my tiara and every piece of diamond jewelry, real or fake, that I own. Brian put on his heavy duty biking gear. Body armor, shin guards, gloves, helmet, shorts, etc. They had a cornbread and chili cook off, and everything tasted great. There was a doughnut eating contest and a pumpkin carving contest as well. We didn't get to stay very long though because Brian had to get back to school to work on projects. But we had a good time seeing everyone else's costumes.

On Halloween, we stopped by the Glads for dinner and candy, then headed to my Grandma Barlow's for some more food and candy. Nat & Adam were up for the weekend because they had a niece being blessed, and my cousin Matt & his wife Kristen were in from Michigan for Clark's baby's blessing as well. It was so fun to be able to just get together with everyone and catch up.

Happy Halloween!

It's just starting to get a little dark, which means the little kids have been out for a while, and the big kids are just about to start. I remember those days, of running around with your friends seeing who could get the most candy. At our house, after we got home, we got to take out a certain number, I can't remember, maybe 20? pieces of candy for ourselves, and then had to dump the rest into one big bowl. Well, more like two, because it all wouldn't fit into one when the majority of us were going around. And we complained at first, but it was always nice days later when your candy was gone, but that big bowl was still sitting on the counter.

I enjoyed Halloween as a kid and loved all the chocolate, but as I've gotten older, it's lost it's appeal. I know I know. This is appalling to some of you out there. But I just don't like it as much. I still love the chocolate, but I no longer find joy in going out to get a costume because the only ones made for older/adult women, are slutty. Unless you make them yourself, and I'm just not that creative. And I really hate touching slimy goopy stuff, so pumpkin carvings out of the question. And I hate to be scared, so Haunted Houses are really off limits. They give me nightmares anyway. So yeah. I'll take my hot apple cider and all the Snickers you'll give me, but that's where it ends.

I might change my tune though, when I have kids, because after seeing all my cousin's kids, all dressed up, I can't wait to do that to my own. :)

My grandparents are getting back today. They may even be back already, but we have not been home yet to find out. I think they're leaving right away again to see my Great Grandma up in Preston, but I don't know. I'm excited to see them. It feels like Brian and I are the only ones that weren't able to go down to St. George to visit them the whole time they were down there. But I guess this is made up by the fact that our wedding is the only one they could come up for. :) So that was special for me.

Last night we had a going away party for our Sunday School class. They came over to our house for pizza and then we watched Brian Regan. They loved it. They are such cool kids and even though I'm still way scared of teaching, I'm so glad we got this opportunity. We weren't always the most prepared or the best teachers, but we had a good time with them.

Well, I'm off to go get Brian from school, and hopefully go home sooner than later. Safe Trick-or-Treating to all!
