Busy Weekend

I'm still trying to get used to having Brian around on Saturdays. I got really used to last semester, where every Saturday I had the whole day to myself. I could clean, (thought that didn't happen all the time) and veg, and get all the reading done that I needed to. This semester though, he's around a lot more, which is so nice. But it does prevent me from getting all my reading done and I have even more of it than last semester. We'll manage though. We started a No Screen Week yesterday, which will help, but I think it'll be more difficult for me than Brian. I'm really into Top Model & Grey's lately. But I guess it's good that it's still repeats for Grey's and the new season of Top Model doesn't start until next week. :)

On Saturday, we drove down to Brian's parent's house and I went with his mom to a baby shower for a cousin's wife, and the guys changed the oil in all the cars. I'm grateful that my father-in-law has the capability and will to do that sort of thing and to teach it to Brian. It saves us mucho dinero. Another thing that's going to save us money is the fact that instead of paying over $2,000 in May to get a new engine for Brian's car, Paul & Brian have decided instead to spend $500 to rebuild it themselves. While this will take a bit of time, it's worth it to us to save that $1,500. So we'll see if it works. :)

Saturday night, we went to a birthday party for my cousin's husband. We played Rock Band and Guitar Hero 3 and ate good food. My cousin's cousin makes this amazing bread dip that is way too fattening to think about, but so good. We ate it all night, even after it got cold. It was still so good. :) I have to get that recipe! We always have such a good time hanging out with that group of friends. I love that I'm so close to my cousins.

Sunday, we got up at 6:30 AM to be to a meeting at 7:30 AM for our new PCH calling. It was kind of a training/inspirational meeting with the branch presidency and the stake president. It was good, but I really don't like mornings. Brian just laughed at how grumpy I was.

Then we had church at 9:00 and Brian received a new calling. He has been called as the Executive Secretary. This means, he assists the bishopric in their meetings, handles the bishop's schedule & appointments, and does a ton of other little things to help the ward run smoothly. Basically, it means he'll be really busy. So he's going to have to learn to balance his school stuff & ward stuff. He's excited though, no matter what he says. It'll also be good at getting to know more people in the ward.

After church, we had our first ward choir practice. We're working on two hard songs that we're going to sing with the stake choir for Stake Conference in March. Elder Nelson is going to be presiding so that's why we're doing it. The songs are tough, so I'm glad that I don't have to play for the real thing. :)

After practice we ran home to get something to eat really fast and then had to be back at the ward building to set Brian apart. Then we went home and I started my reading, and Brian left to go get trained from the previous Exec Sec. (Who is our home teacher, by the way.) Then he got home about 1 1/2 hours later and a few minutes later, our home teachers came over. :)

It was a busy weekend, and I didn't think I would get all my reading done, but I did! Woohoo! So it just proves to me once again that everything works out if you're doing what you're supposed to.
