Late Nights

This week is the last week before Brian's Masters Thesis Project is due.

Like every semester, that means each night he gets home later and later.

I'm used to this by now, but it still doesn't stop me from staying up way too late, hoping he might come home early.

So to keep me entertained, here's a list:

Signs It's a Finals Week in the Architecture Program:

  • Most of the students have bloodshot eyes, a side effect of not blinking for 12 hours straight while working on the computer.
  • People around you are wearing the same clothes you saw them in 24 hours before.
  • By the last night, one of the girls has broken down in tears about not being able to finish in time.
  • At least one person has cut off part of a finger using an Exacto knife. (And they may or may not go to the hospital, depending on how close they are to finishing.) (Sometimes they just fix it using Superglue.)
  • You start talking, pause, and then don't understand why your wife gives you a funny look. Then you realize you finished the sentence in your head.
  • People randomly burst out singing, headphones in, but not caring anymore because they're so tired. (Some do it without the headphones.)
  • Any loud noise or tipping over of materials makes the whole studio gasp in fear that it's someones model breaking.
  • The only sleep you get is in your other classes.
  • You're lucky if you remember to put down your Exacto knife and eat something.
  • You give your wife a kiss goodnight as she gives you a kiss good morning.

It's nice to know that this is the LAST time though. We're almost there!
